If you are reading this, you are probably a parent and you might even be a first-time parent (congrats!) with many questions and not many answers. Well you have just come to the right place! We welcome children of all ages at MHP Dental and we create a positive, fun and friendly vibe for kids to feel comfortable in.

First and foremost, education and prevention are a priority and the core of our ethos when it comes to treating children.  You would like advice, I hear you. Brushing you ask? Have a look at our blog page, there is an article on brushing and diet for children specifically. Follow a few simple guidelines and your child will most likely never suffer dentally.

Many parents ask if they should bring their child in every 6 months for a check-up. I say 100%, absolutely. Things can change very quickly in a child’s mouth and so the more regularly they are seen the better. It also acclimatises your child to dental visits and thereby making it a routine and normal part of their overall health maintenance, rather than being a traumatic and uncomfortable experience.

In addition to the above, orthodontically there are many things that when detected and treated with early intervention, can facilitate later treatment quite significantly. If such things are detected past a certain age, the window of opportunity is missed, and this may complicate or prolong future treatment.

Sleep issues is another aspect that Dr Obaid has an interest in. There are a few simple things you can look out for (again have a look at our blog page) and if assessed by an experienced and qualified ENT, can be resolved in a variety of ways. Orthodontic issues and sleep issues are quite often very closely linked, and Dr Obaid offers orthodontic assessments and carries out both orthopaedic and orthodontic treatment for children.
